What an inventive week we've had at Oak Learners! Our campers became junior engineers, dreaming up and designing their own structures, gadgets, and inventions. Here's what our young builders and creators discovered:

🛠️ Engineering & Physics Challenges: Using simple, everyday materials, campers took on fun building challenges and tried out cool experiments to see what happens when they tweak, test, and improve their ideas. There were plenty of "Let's try it and see what happens!" moments!

🏗️ The Big Build: Campers designed and constructed their own structures, learning about balance, stability, and the physics behind what makes things stand strong.

💡 Creative Invention Projects: Through both collaborative and individual projects using recycled and sustainable materials, campers brought their wildest ideas to life, thinking creatively about design and function.

🌳 Outdoor Adventures: Taking tools and curiosity outside, campers explored how engineering works in the natural world, discovering the structures and systems all around us.

⚙️ Tinker, Test & Improve: Throughout the week, campers experienced the engineering process firsthand: building, testing, refining, and celebrating their creations with each iteration.

WEEK 7: Bug Hunters: The Great Insect Adventure 

Dive into the tiny, fascinating world of creepy-crawlies! This week, campers become junior entomologists as they explore hidden habitats and witness the incredible metamorphosis of Monarch butterflies. From building bug hotels to visiting the Humber Bay Butterfly Habitat, it's a week of outdoor discovery, nature walks, and bug-tastic fun for every curious explorer.

Typical Activities Include:

• Bug Detective Work: Learning the difference between "bugs" and true insects by exploring body parts, behaviours, and habitats.
• Butterfly Metamorphosis: Investigating life cycles and butterfly metamorphosis, with a special focus on Monarch migration and their incredible journeys.
• Bug Hotel Building: Creating cozy "bug hotels" and going on guided bug-exploration walks to observe insects safely and respectfully.
• Humber Bay Butterfly Habitat Visit: Visiting a real outdoor ecosystem to spot pollinators in action and connect learning to the natural world.
